REGGY HASIBUAN

Reggy Hasibuan is the first English-Speaking Comedian in Indonesia and also the first Indonesian comic in Youtube. He is a well-respected comedian in Indonesia, with consistency in bringing uncompromised and well-observed materials about realities in life such as Religion, Politics and relationship, which are all delivered in English.

He has started performing comedy since 4th Grade of Elementary school, when he directed his own comedy skit with his classmates. Later, when his family bought a satelite disc into the house, he found Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien every Saturday Night and became obsessed with Stand Up Comedy ever since. In 2009, Reggy initiated his own Stand Up Comedy Specials in his family house in Malang, as seen by his neighbours, family friends and students, and uploaded the video to Youtube. It has become the first ever Indonesian Stand Up Comedy video in Youtube, before the Indonesian Stand Up Comedy hype later on in 2011.

Since 2011, he has performed in many Stand Up communities and Stand Up Shows across Indonesia and regional ASEAN. After his successful show “Holier Than Thou” performed in JakFringe Comedy Festival, he was invited to perform in Malaysia to headline in the Stand Up Comedy scenes there. He brought along a fellow English speaking Indonesian comedian, Mosidik when he was called again to perform there. Due to their success, Reggy and Mosidik were invited to perform in larger ASEAN Stand Up scenes including performing Singapore and Cambodia.

Currently, aside from regular shows, Reggy has established a Comedy Club in his hometown of Malang where he mentors local comics and facilitates local shows and open mics. The "Laughboratorium" Comedy Club is the first and only community-based Comedy Club in the country.
